The bank displays a QR code; once scanned, you can easily log in to your account
Pekao has introduced a new way to log in to the Pekao24 online service. You can now access your account by scanning the QR code on the bank’s website with your mobile phone and confirming it in PeoPay, or by using a new in-app feature.

If you’re using online banking on a trusted device and want to log in with a QR code, select the ‘switch client’ button. A code will then appear on the page, which you can reveal and scan in two ways. First: open your phone’s camera and scan the QR code; you will then be redirected to the app, where you will be asked to confirm your login.
The second method involves the new version of PeoPay (4.122), which Pekao plans to release shortly on the App Store and Google Play. If you install this version of the app, you’ll need to log in, open the settings tab, and then select the option ‘Log in with a QR code’. Then, just as in the previous method, you scan the image using your smartphone’s camera and confirm your login to PeoPay with your PIN.

For your convenience, you’ll be able to set up a shortcut on the new app’s home page to scan a QR code, which will appear on the screen even before you log in to the app. The bank emphasises that the new login method is quick and convenient, as it eliminates the need to enter your customer number and masked password.
However, logging into an account using a QR code is not a new concept on the Polish market. Other financial institutions in Poland, such as Revolut and VeloBank, are already using a similar solution. Nest Bank has also recently introduced a new login method that does not require users to remember a username and password.
