Provident has launched a credit card in Romania under its Polish KIP licence

In Poland, 230,000 customers are already using Provident’s credit cards

Provident has announced that the Romanian company within the International Personal Finance group, namely Provident Financial Romania, has launched the ProviCard Mastercard credit card. And from the perspective of cashless.pl readers, this news would not be particularly interesting were it not for the fact that, in launching the product, the company utilised a national payment institution licence obtained from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF).

"Launching the credit card in yet another market is a major step towards realising the NextGen strategy and a success for the ‘build once, deploy many times’ approach. Because the heart of this roll-out beats… in Poland. The Romanian card operates under a KIP licence obtained by Provident Polska, extended through the EU’s service passporting mechanism," reports the Polish arm of Provident.

The institution added that the technological and operational foundations of ProviCard were developed in our country, and that over 230,000 customers in Poland are already actively using the service.

The first customers of Provident in Romania can now apply for a Provident card. They can do so via a digital and remote process. Support is also provided by call centre teams and a dedicated feature within the ProviGo mobile app. The Romanian roll-out was developed in collaboration with organisations such as Mastercard, Libra Internet Bank, Onfido and Namirial.
