Fintech firm Yowpay, in partnership with Huawei, has launched an app that allows users to accept payments via a smartwatch. The solution is based on A2A (account-to-account) transfers, initiated via a QR code displayed on the face of the watch.

Yowpay specialises in offering SEPA Instant transfers, processed via open banking (PIS service), initiated by scanning a QR code (in accordance with the EPC QR standard) or initiated directly by the customer.
Merchants who are Yowpay customers can integrate this payment method into their online shops and accept payments in person using a dedicated smartphone app. The fintech company emphasizes that this allows them to bypass traditional card payment systems and reduce transaction fees.

Thanks to this new solution, the Yowpay payment system can now also be used on smartwatches. The seller displays dynamic QR code on their watch, which the buyer scans with their smartphone to confirm the payment.
The app is now available on the Huawei App Gallery and is compatible with Ultimate and Watch GT smartwatches.
