SGB introduces new features to its mobile application, including a panic button and caller verification for bank employees

Both solutions, made available in the latest update of SGB Mobile, are becoming standard on the Polish banking market

The latest update of the cooperative SGB Group’s application is now available in the App Store and Google Play. The new version of the app includes several interesting additions, mainly related to security. These include a feature enabling verification of a bank advisor's identity when calling a customer, as well as the so-called panic button — a single-action button (for example, in a threatening situation) that prevents any financial transactions from being carried out.

It can be said that both features, if they are not already standard, are gradually becoming so on the Polish market. Verification of a bank advisor’s identity via a mobile banking application has been implemented by individual institutions for several years now. The panic button, on the other hand, is a relatively new solution, but it is already available to customers of several banks, such as mBank, Pekao, and BNP Paribas. ING has also recently announced plans to introduce it.

Among other features introduced with the latest SGB Mobile update, the option to authorize transactions initiated in the online banking service via the mobile app is worth noting. As far as I know, this does not mean that SGB customers were previously unable to confirm transfers on their phones; rather, this function had been located in a separate, dedicated application and has now been integrated into the main app. Thanks to the update, SGB Mobile users will also be able to view all card details, making online payments easier, for example, without needing to have the physical card with them.
