Introducing appropriate products and services is one of the ways to reduce financial exclusion

At least that is what the survey commissioned by Provident in Poland shows

According to a study commissioned by Provident, four out of ten Poles have never felt financially excluded. However, most have had such experiences. The main factors behind this are insufficient financial resources, rising prices of products and services, and a lack of financial literacy. The latter factor affects women more often than men.

According to half of Poles, financial companies can play an essential role in reducing financial exclusion. They can achieve this by providing education in economics, money management, saving, and other related topics. They should also tailor their offerings to meet the needs of different customer groups, including those without a regular income. They can also support their customers by simplifying the processes related to using financial services and offering transparent terms and conditions.

"Lack of stable income or limited offerings for specific groups are factors that hinder financial inclusion. In addition to systemic measures, counteracting exclusion can also involve business initiatives. It is not only about education, but also about creating products and services tailored to the needs of different social groups", emphasises Karolina Łuczak, spokesperson for Provident Polska.

The Provident representative emphasises that lending institutions operating on the Polish market are already conducting various educational activities aimed at reducing financial exclusion. An example of such an initiative is the document 'Good Practices in the Distribution of Services by Lending Institutions', prepared by the Association of Financial Companies under the auspices of the Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). Provident itself runs the #Niewidzialni (Invisible) programme, aimed, for example, at young people experiencing homelessness, female refugees from Ukraine, and lonely senior citizens.
