The new functionality is currently only available for part of the bank’s customers, but the list will become longer with time
Good news for Raiffeisen Polbank customers. Starting today, some of them can begin using the Google Pay mobile payments. The bank introduced the solution to a part of its card users, but it will ultimately be available for everyone. The bank has therefore confirmed what Cashless reported on several weeks ago. Raiffeisen Polbank's release suggests that even though the bank is in the process of merging with BGŻ BNP Paribas, its developers are not waiting idly to be absorbed by the larger company. BGŻ BNP Paribas president Przemysław Gdański said during a press conference yesterday that Raiffeisen Polbank has a great technical infrastructure and that he hopes that the merger will help the bank to catch up with its competitors in terms of online banking.
Raiffeisen Polbank introducing Google Pay to its customers means that the solution is currently offered by 16 companies in Poland, including 13 banks. Google's contactless mobile payments are the most popular mobile payment method in Poland. So far it has to compete with banks’ mobile app HCE payment solutions, but soon it will have another competitor - Apple Pay.
