Data on the purchasing preferences of Poles during the so-called Black Weekend was collected by PolCard from Fiserv
According to PolCard statistics, during Black Friday, i.e., the last Friday in November, the value of payments in electronics stores increased by 88 per cent compared to a regular Friday a week earlier. In terms of the number of transactions, the most significant increase was recorded in automotive stores, by 64 per cent. High increases in the value and number of payments were also recorded in the jewellery and sports industries.

"Our Black Friday payment data reveals certain consumer preferences. They treat this day as an opportunity to make larger, more thoughtful purchases. The increase in the number and value of transactions in the electronics and automotive categories indicates that Poles are taking advantage of promotions to purchase products that they have often postponed buying", says Krzysztof Polończyk, president of Fiserv Polska, owner of the PolCard brand.
It turns out that Polish consumers behaved differently on Cyber Monday, the last day of the so-called Black Weekend. 'This is a time for smaller purchases. We are seeing a clear shift towards categories such as books, stationery, and products related to education and personal development,' said Krzysztof Polończyk.
The most significant increase in transactions compared to a regular Monday a week earlier was recorded in the books and stationery category (39.5 per cent). As on Black Friday, Poles were also keen to buy jewellery, but the increase in transactions in this category on Cyber Monday was more minor – 34.5 per cent.

"Interestingly, the first Monday in December is not only about material purchases and satisfying minor needs. It is also an opportunity to invest in one's own skills and development. Analysis of our data shows that purchases in the education category ranked third in terms of transaction growth", notes the president of Fiserv Polska.
When it comes to what Poles spent the most money on during Digital Monday, data from Fiserv Polska reveals an interesting phenomenon. Although Black Friday and Cyber Monday are commonly seen as celebrations of consumerism, it turns out that Poles are also more inclined to spend larger amounts on charitable causes during this period. Compared with a regular Monday, the value of transactions in the organisations and associations category increased by 81 per cent, the most significant difference among all the categories analysed.
