Next year, the first PAX payment terminals with the Android operating system, a touch screen, and, interestingly, a traditional keypad will appear on the Polish market. We are referring to the new version of the A8900 device, which was previously available with a keyboard displayed on the touchscreen. Both machines are visible in the photo.

Grzegorz Jaglarski, Vice President of Novelpay, the exclusive distributor of the Chinese brand in Poland, stated in an interview with cashless.pl that the first payment terminal operators in our country are already incorporating the A8900 with a keypad into their offerings. In his opinion, customers will be able to see them in shops and service outlets in a few months.

PAX is not the only payment terminal manufacturer to implement the solution described in this article. Ingenico has been offering a device with a touch screen and keypad for some time now. We are talking about the Axium DX6000 terminal.

There has been a significant amount of activity in the payment device industry recently. What has accelerated these changes? The Android system. Its use on terminals has facilitated the use of touch screens and an interface familiar to smartphone users. Android also allows for the installation of various applications, not just the payment app found on most older devices. Today, Android-based payment terminals are the best sellers.

However, according to device manufacturers, there are situations in which using a touchscreen keyboard is less convenient than using a traditional keyboard, e.g., in low temperatures. This has led to a demand for terminals with a multifunctional Android system, as well as a conventional keyboard. It will be interesting to see whether such machines will gain a foothold in the market.
