Italian Company Introduces New POS Brand to Polish Market

Argentea has begun selling Castles terminals

I assume that when you're using your payment card at a restaurant or gas station you don't usually pay attention to the logo on the payment terminal. Even so, you might be familiar with the names Ingenico and Verifone, because most POS terminals used on the Polish market have been made by those two companies. This may soon change - at least that's what representatives of the Italian company Argentea hope for. The company wants to sell Castles terminals in Poland.

As Argentea representatives have told me, their offer doesn't only include terminals, but also advanced software as an added value. Its functionalities include selling prepaid phone cards, splitting the bill at restaurants or accepting payments for electricity, water or gas bills. Argentea wants to compete with other terminal providers on the Polish market with the quality of their services.

While the arrival of a new terminal manufacturer on the Polish market probably won't end in a price war, it might result in a decline in terminal prices. Increased competition on the market is probably caused by the introduction Cashless Poland's program. Its goal is to install over half a million new payment terminals in Poland in the next three years. The project has already gained some global recognition - I’m sure Argentea is not the only company that will want to make a profit by expanding their services to Poland.
