Cardtronics is Withdrawing from the Polish Market

The company will remove all Cashzone brand ATMs from Poland by the end of the first quarter of next year

Cardtronics is one of the biggest ATM operators in the world - if not the biggest. But its entry on the Polish market with its Cashzone brand took place too late - Euronet had already established its leadership, IT Card had started to take up space with its brand Planet Cash, and bank chains were expanding. It was especially difficult to compete with them because the interchange commission for cash withdrawals, which is the main source of revenue for ATM owners, is only 1.2 - 1.3 zł. This seems to be the main reason Cardtronics directors decided to give up on the Polish market.

Cashless's report on the Polish ATM market shows that at the end of June there were 222 Cashzone brand ATMs in Poland.
